FREE Bat Crochet Pattern

Materials:

-Weight 6 Yarn (I used Bernat Baby Blanket in mountain mist)(available here: https://amzn.to/3lpljyn)

-Preferred hook size (I used 7mm)(available here: https://amzn.to/406Tzyb)

-Yarn needle (available here: https://amzn.to/3z08oGC)

-Stitch marker (available here: https://amzn.to/3TyN9p0)

-Stuffing (available here: https://amzn.to/40wnRKx)

-Safety eyes (I used 12mm)(available here: https://amzn.to/42r01Sc)

-Black yarn/ embroidery thread (available here: https://amzn.to/3RZEvPR)

Abbreviations:

-rnd(s)= round(s)

-ch= chain

-sc= single crochet

-mr= magic ring (or magic circle)

-sl st= slip stitch

-inc= sc 2 in the same st

-dec= sc 2 together

-fo= finish off

PATTERN:

Head:

Rnd 1: sc 6 into a mr (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)

Rnd 3: inc, sc 1 and repeat around (18)

Rnd 4: inc, sc 2 and repeat around (24)

Rnds 5-8: sc 1 in each st around (24)(4 rnds)

-Add safety eyes (I added mine between rnds 5 and 6 with about 4 stitches between)

-Make the mouth with black thread/yarn and a yarn needle

Rnd 9: dec, sc 1 and repeat around (16)

-Start stuffing now

Rnd 10: dec around (8)

-Fo with a long tail

Body (worked from bottom to top):

Rnd 1: sc 4 into a mr (4)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (8)

Rnd 3: inc, sc 1 and repeat around (12)

Rnd 4: inc, sc 2 and repeat around (18)

Rnds 5-8: sc 1 in each st around (18)(4 rnds)

-Start stuffing now

Rnd 9: dec, sc 1 and repeat around until 1 st remains, sc 1 in that last st (11)

Rnd 10: dec around, until 1 st remains, sc 1 in that last st (6)

-Fo with a long tail

Ears (make 2):

Rnd 1: sc 4 into a mr (4)

Rnd 2: inc, sc 1 and repeat around (6)

Rnd 3: sc 1 in each st around (6)

-Fold the ear and sc across to close, fo with a long tail

Wings (make 2):

Ch 6

Row 1: inc, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, ch 2, turn (8)

Row 2: dc 1, sc 2, dc inc twice, sc 2, dc 1, fo with a long tail (10)

Assembly:

-Sew the ears onto the top of the head

-Sew the head onto the body

-Sew the wings onto each side of the body

-Weave in any ends and you’re finished!!
