FREE Gingerbread Man Crochet Pattern

Materials:

-Weight 6 Yarn (I used Bernat Blanket in color crimson)(available here: https://amzn.to/3DZIFRz)(Bernat Baby Blanket in white and baby sand)(available here: https://amzn.to/3lpljyn)

-Preferred hook size (I used 7mm)(available here: https://amzn.to/406Tzyb)

-Yarn needle (available here: https://amzn.to/3z08oGC)

-Stitch marker (available here: https://amzn.to/3TyN9p0)

-Stuffing (available here: https://amzn.to/40wnRKx)

-Safety eyes (I used 20mm)(available here: https://amzn.to/42r01Sc)

-Black yarn/ embroidery thread (available here: https://amzn.to/3RZEvPR)

Abbreviations:

-rnd(s)= round(s)

-ch= chain

-sc= single crochet

-mr= magic ring (or magic circle)

-sl st= slip stitch

-inc= sc 2 in the same st

-dec= sc 2 together

-fo= finish off

PATTERN:

Legs (with brown)(worked into body & head):

Rnd 1: sc 6 into a mr (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)

Rnd 3: inc, sc 1 and repeat around (18)

-Change to white

Rnd 4: sc 1 in each st around (18)

-Change back to brown

Rnds 5-10: sc 1 in each st around (18) (6 rnds)

-Fo, repeat rnds 1-10 but do not fo the second time

-After finishing rnd 10 the second time, sl st into the first leg to connect the legs together, then work as if they are one to start the body (36 sts around)

Rnd 11: dec, sc 4 and repeat around (30)

Rnds 12-18: sc 1 in each st around (30)(7 rnds)

Rnd 19: dec, sc 3 and repeat around (24)

Rnd 20: dec, sc 2 and repeat around (18)

-Start stuffing now

Rnd 21: dec, sc 1 and repeat around (12)

Rnd 22: inc in each st around (24)

Rnd 23: inc, sc 1 and repeat around (36)

Rnds 24-29: sc 1 in each st around (36)(6 rnds)

-Place safety eyes between rnds 28 and 29 with about 6 stitches in between

-Change to white

Rnd 30: dec, sc 4 and repeat around (30)

-Change back to brown

Rnd 31: dec, sc 3 and repeat around (24)

Rnd 32: dec, sc 2 and repeat around (18)

-Finish stuffing

Rnd 33: dec, sc 1 and repeat around (12)

Rnd 34: dec around (6)

-Fo with a long tail and sew closed

-Sew on the mouth with a yarn needle and white yarn

Arms (with brown)(make 2):

Rnd 1: sc 6 into a mr (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)

Rnd 3: inc, sc 2 and repeat around (16)

-Change to white

Rnd 4: sc 1 in each st around (16)

-Change back to brown

Rnds 5-8: sc 1 in each st around (16)(4 rnds)

Rnd 9: dec, sc 2 and repeat around (12)

-Stuff lightly

-Fold closed and sc across to close, fo with a long tail

Buttons (with red)(make 2):

Rnd 1: sc 5 into a mr, fo with a long tail

Bow (with red):

Rnd 1: sc 4 into a mr

(Ch 3, turn and skip two chs, dc 6 into the first ch, sl st into the same space you just made the dc sts into, sl st 2 times into the sc sts of the mr) repeat from ( to ) one more time to create the other side of the bow. Sl st into the bow and fo with a long tail

Assembly:

-Sew one arm onto each side of the body

-Sew the bow onto the neck area of the body

-Sew the 2 buttons onto the body, below the bow

-Weave in any remaining ends and your finished!!
